Adelaide’s kiiiinda got it goin’ on when it comes to pizza. You want your classic Aussie pizza joint? You go to Hyde Park Pizza Bar. You want Italiano style? You go to Antica Pizzeria. You want a Detroit deep dish delight? You hit a Pearl’s Pizza. Aaaaand you want a fast food quickie? Then a dirty Domino’s will do the trick. We’ve got this guys. We’ve earned our pizza Scout’s badge. So when it comes to a pizza contender, they gotta do a stand our pie to lure in that illusive return customer.
The workplace water cooler chat recently has been 1) who’s going to win season 3 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All Stars, 2) favourite lip shades for work and 3) how bloody amazing Bai Long Store is. The chat was enough to get me to pick up the blower and make a reservation. Going in, my hopes were higher than Dolly Parton’s rack and SPOILER ALERT: I wasn’t disappointed.
I wouldn’t say we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to drool-inspiring Mexican food in our city. There are undoubtedly a couple of gems dotted around the joint but I’d like to see more authentic Mexican fare injected into the throbbing vein that is the Adelaide food scene.
I’ve been keeping a close eye on Glossier (I’m talkin’ creep watching high school girls by a bus stop kinda close) and as the old saying goes – you always want what you can’t have. Unfortunately, Glossier doesn’t yet ship to Australia, so when one of my besties headed over to the UK, I was over the fricken moon to lodge a sizeable order for her to bring back for me.
I love me some January with the smell of ‘fresh start’ in the air. The weather’s uplifting, your energy is renewed and you feel like you CAN loose those extra 5 kg’s AND find the man of your dreams with time left over to start that pottery class you’ve always wanted to do. So let’s take a minute to send some props to January because it really does treat us with respect, like a one night stand who offers to drop you home in the morning. Avocado, feta and bacon. Can the world really be such a bad place with them in it? I will travel far and wide for a stellar dish combining those three edible gems and last Saturday morning, I did exactly that and landed at a little, not-so-old café by the name of Commune 1.
My skin soaks up moisture like a 6 year old’s brain soaks up swear words.
